What I think this quote means is that you should follow your goal all the way and that you should continue pursuing your goal all the way among your life till the end. For example, like myself my goal is to become more and more obedient each and everyday my whole life. Like James E. Faust said "instead of stumbling blocks it becomes a building block." What this means is that you need to keep on building up your goals every day you can not just stop.
